How we hire

Our Process

Our process is an important part of our culture. We care about building our workplace, and that begins with hiring. In order to truly build for everyone, we know that we need a diversity of perspectives and experiences, and a fair hiring process is the first step in getting there.

Our hiring process involves up to 3 stages and is a rigorous yet flexible process that helps us decide if a candidate is right for us and allows candidates to decide if bit.bio is the right place for them.

This approach allows you to meet more people across the business, and get a good feel for things, whilst also letting more of the team be part of the interview process.

What we look for in every hire:

  • You're purpose-driven: you care about positively impacting the lives of millions and drive for results.
  • You’re always collaborating: you place team success over personal success and you enjoy working in an open, collaborative environment.
  • You demonstrate empiricism: when you see something not working, you'll flag it and be part of the solution.
  • You seek continuous improvement: you’re agile and continuously question and improve company processes and ways of working together.
  • You’re not limited by a scarcity mindset: you think outside of the box and do not let preconceptions, traditional thinking, or financial constraints get in your way.

Throughout the time you engage with us as a prospective candidate you may experience all or just some of the different stages below.

Application

How can I make sure my application stands out?

Everyone who applies is given the same time and consideration. Do your research and let us know why you’re interested in joining bit.bio. Pay close attention to our different job descriptions and only apply for the roles you’re interested in or that align with your experience.

I know someone who works at bit.bio. Can they refer me?

Yes! Reach out to them before you apply. They can submit your details internally, so don’t forget to send them your CV and anything else you think they’ll need.

I’ve applied! How long does it take to hear back?

We try to get back to everyone within a few weeks of applying. With more popular roles, this may take a bit longer. So please, bear with us!

Can I check the status of my application?

We can’t give updates but rest assured, we review every application we receive and will let you know either way what the outcome is as soon as possible.

Candidate Privacy Notice

Read our Candidate Privacy Notice which describes how we process personal information about you when you are applying to work with bit.bio.

Interview Process

1st Stage Interview (up to 1hr)

First, you’ll have a video call with the hiring manager plus one other key stakeholder - a chat about you, the role, and your background. This stage will assess your ability to complete the day to day responsibilities of the role and include further competency questions.

We always leave time for you to ask us questions.

2nd Stage Interview (4 x 30 mins)

If all goes well, we’ll invite you for a round of second interviews with up to four members of the team. These 30-minute organisational fit interviews will allow us to consider a few other things: Do your values align with our values? Do you take ownership of your work and take pride in what you deliver? Are you adaptable? Are you collaborative? Are you driven? These are the questions we’ll be asking ourselves as we interview you. These interviews may take place via Zoom or on-site depending on availability.

Final Interview (1h 15 minutes)

We often have a more role-specific interview for senior hires or research based roles, where employees may be required to present on their work. This will consist of a presentation, where you can showcase your experience as well as a case-study which you’ll receive in advance and will present on. These interviews will take place on-site.

Reasonable Adjustments

Please do reach out to your recruiter or recruitment coordinator about any additional needs you may have. We’re always happy to help and will do everything we can to accommodate you.

Feedback

We provide feedback to every candidate that has an interview with us. If you aren’t successful on this occasion, we want to help you in your job search and provide constructive feedback that can help you be successful in your next interview.

We ask interviewers to put together their thoughts and our Talent Acquisition team will share all of it with you, both positive and constructive.

We are always looking
for new talent

Are you purposeful, ambitious and collaborative? Do you want to be part of a team that combines the concepts of coding and biology to provide human cells for research, drug discovery, and a new generation of medicines to aid new generations of cures and increase global sustainability?
